Daniel Alcazar Roman

Daniel Alcazar Roman is an Associate Director at the Center for K–12 Science at the Lawrence Hall of Science, University of California, Berkeley. He focuses on the research and design of instructional materials and leads embedded science assessment design projects at the Learning Design Group. He also serves as a Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigator on state and federally funded grant projects.

Daniel has experience as a bilingual science teacher, district science coordinator, and state science supervisor. In his role as a state science supervisor, he led the design and development of the NGSS state-level assessment system for the District of Columbia. He recently served on the Steering and Development Panels for the 2028 NAEP Science Assessment Framework and is currently a member of the Science Standing Committee for the National Assessment Governing Board. He has been deeply involved in science education reform and is an active member of professional organizations including CSSS, NSELA, NSTA, and NARST. Daniel holds a Master of Education in Educational Administration from Texas Southern University and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Lipscomb University.
