Suzanna Loper

Suzanna (Suzy) Loper is an Associate Director of the Center for K–12 Science at the Lawrence Hall of Science, University of California, Berkeley. She leads a team of researchers and designers focused on development and implementation of widely adopted high-quality instructional materials for Pre-K through Grade 8. Before coming to the Lawrence Hall of Science, she was a middle and high school science teacher in public schools.

Loper has served as a PI or co-PI of several federal and foundation grants, including a National Science Foundation grant investigating the efficacy of NGSS-designed curriculum materials on student outcomes and teacher practices; a Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Professional Learning Partnership grant; and a National Science Foundation grant focused on supporting teachers in engaging students in scientific argumentation. Loper holds a PhD in Education in Math, Science and Technology from the University of California, Berkeley, and a BS in Physics from Yale University.
